CORE UNITS

The IZKF Münster is not solely a funding instrument in the context of the performance-oriented allocation of funds, but also hosts a technology platform within the Medical Faculty. Thus, part of the resources serve to improve the technologogy infrastructure. All researchers thus have access to state-of-the-art technologies for innovative research projects and can use the core units of the IZKF.

The former IZKF Core Unit TRAM was transferred to the Faculty of Medicine on 01.07.2015.

The Bioinformatics and  Genomics sections of the IZKF Core Unit Integrated Functional Genomics (IFG) IZKF were merged with the Core Facility of the LIFA on 01.10.2014 to form the new Core Facility Genomics of the Faculty of Medicine.

Cardiovascular and Cellular Function (CarCeF)

The IZKF Technology and Methods Service "Cardiovascular and Cellular Function (CarCeF)" is established at the Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology. CarCeF provides a wide range of services as part of a comprehensive cardiovascular phenotyping of genetic mouse models in whole animals, in the isolated organ and at cellular level, but can also be applied to non-cardiovascular issues. CarCeF continues to provide the methods offered by the former IZKF Core Unit "CarTel". These methods are thus retained within the IZKF and the faculty will continue to have access to this  field of expertise. Further information can be found in the Flyer

TECHNOLOGY AND METHODS SERVICE

Laser Capture Microdissection

Laser capture microdissection (LCM) enables users to isolate small areas of tissue and even single cells from tissue sections under microscopic observation. These tiny isolated areas can then be further analyzed using analytical-chemical methods. A Zeiss PALM® CombiSystem (photo) previously located at the IZKF was recently moved to the Institute for Hygiene - Biomedical Mass Spectrometry, Robert-Koch-Straße 51, where it is available to all interested scientists of the Medical Faculty as an IZKF technology offer.

CORE UNITS BROCHURE

The IZKF technology platform provides an overview of the services offered by the core unity. The brochure is updated at regular intervals. Innovations and enhancements to the individual core units are communicated via the brochure.
