From 29.09. - 01.10.2022 the 3rd Interdisciplinary Networking Symposium for Clinicians and Medical Scientists - Else Kröner Symposium took place in Münster. Keynote and scientific lectures, poster sessions, workshops and various networking formats for doctors of all disciplines and research fields enabled the participants to network. The symposium was in the tradition of the previous network symposia that were held in Würzburg in 2019 and in Jena in 2021 and brought together more than 80 medical professionals from all over Germany and Switzerland.

The symposium was organised by the IZKF SEED project leaders and clinician scientists working at the medical faculty, together with the office of the Interdisciplinary Center for Clinical Research (IZKF) Münster. The IZKF Münster awarded a prize for the best lecture and for the best poster presentation. Both awardees received a prize money of 250 Euros each.

The symposium was funded by the Else Kröner-Fresenius Foundation (EKFS). Above all, the interaction between clinicians and the programs is an important component of the funding of clinically oriented research in Germany, with the aim of promoting patient-oriented research. Scientific exchange, exchange of experiences on a structural and organisational level, but also networking and the exchange of career perspectives of researchers are important and invigorating elements for the development of researching physicians in Germany. In order to support this exchange in a targeted manner, the EKFS is funding so-called Else Kröner Symposia for the first time in 2022, which were organised by colleges or programs for clinician scientists or medical scientists.

The participants were very satisfied with this event as it provided a platform for the exchange of information and experiences and consistently gave very positive feedback.
