ABS-Team St. Vincenz Hospital Datteln

Increasing resistance to antibiotics and the handling of problem germs is a topic that is becoming increasingly important and is of particular importance to us. In order to avoid resistance and counteract the disproportionate use of antibiotics, we have set up an Antibiotic Stewardship (ABS) team that operates throughout the hospital. In addition to Dr Hildebrandt, this team includes representatives from the hospital hygiene department, the pharmacy, the laboratory and all disciplines working in the hospital. The aim of the ABS activities in the hospital is an interdisciplinary evaluation and continuous improvement of anti-infective diagnostics and therapy.
Weekly ABS visits to the intensive care unit and consultations with all specialist departments working in the hospital are part of the ABS team's daily work. As co-initiators of the founding of the Westphalia-Lippe ABS network on 9 November 2022, we not only want to continuously improve anti-infective structures in our own hospital, but also contribute to the establishment of a network between the outpatient and inpatient sectors in the Westphalia-Lippe care area.
