Czech native Dr. Anna Stejskalova, alumna of London's Imperial College, has joined the Münster MOMENDO team for a research project on endometriosis. Dr. Stejskalova received the prestigious Women in Research (WiRe) fellowship of Münster University to develop a novel 3D co-culture system of endometriosis in the group of Prof. Martin Götte. The project combines Dr. Stejskalova's experience on advanced biomaterials with the Münster team's expertise in studying molecular mechanisms of the disease. The novel system is intended to mimic a more physiological culture environment than conventional 2D cell culture, and to simulate the early stages of endometriosis in a cell culture dish.
