GLYCANC project presented at ‘Night of university medicine’

Martin Götte, Principal Investigator of the WWU team, explains the GLYCANC research to interested visitors

For the first time, the university hospital at the WWU Münster opened their doors to the public. The ‘Night of university medicine’ showed the hospitals complete range of activities and performance, from aspects of patient care to research and teaching. In this framework, the GLYCANC project was presented on guided tours through the laboratories. Different kinds of lab equipment were explained; visitors could take a look at cancer cells under the microscope and experience how cell culture is done. Then, the development of cancer and research of breast cancer in general was illuminated with the help of posters. Especially the role of proteoglycans in cancer, basis of the GLYCANC project, was emphasized. The ‘long night’ with its more than 10.000 visitors was a great success for the organizers.
