Expanding our network: MFlow in MedForCe

As part of our ongoing mission to provide the Medical Faculty of the University of Münster with decentralized access to cutting-edge flow cytometry services, we are officially integrating a Beckman Coulter CytoFLEX flow cytometer analyzer into our facility framework.

Generous support and specialized focus

The instrument was generously donated by the Institute of Medical Microbiology (Director: Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Frieder Schaumburg), using funds provided by the Medical Faculty (ProInvest-Fonds, 64%), the Institute of Medical Microbiology (24%), and the Institute of Virology (12%).

To accommodate advanced research, the CytoFLEX has been installed inside a specialized S2 safety hood. This strategic placement will support the vital work of four core institutes — Molecular Virology, Hygiene, Medical Microbiology and the Center for Medical Genetics — while remaining an open-access resource for the rest of the research community at the University of Münster.

Seamless integration in a brand-new space

The instrument has been successfully relocated to the newly constructed, cutting-edge MedForCe building and is fully operational. PD Dr rer. nat. Silke Niemann, Institute of Medical Microbiology, will serve as the primary on-site contact for instrument management and biosafety surveillance.

This instrument brings robust, high-throughput capabilities to our decentralized network and features multi-laser configurations and plate-loading options that are perfect for rapid cellular analysis.

How to get started

Researchers interested in using the CytoFLEX for upcoming projects are encouraged to contact the MFlow management. All relevant details on registration, user regulations, fees and instrument portfolio can be found on the MFlow documents and forms.

We look forward to supporting your research in this fantastic new environment!
