VerPlaPoS - Consumer Reactions to Plastic and How to Avoid It at the Point of Sale

The VerPlaPoS (Consumer Reactions to Plastic and How to Avoid It at the Point of Sale) project investigates how consumers can contribute to reducing plastic waste through their purchasing decisions at the point of sale (PoS). It is supported by an interdisciplinary consortium of science, business and practical partners, funded by the BMBF.
The project explores the extent to which consumers can make conscious decisions when purchasing products with plastic packaging and what measures could support them in doing so. To implement these goals, a real laboratory will be set up in the city of Straubing, in which consumer behavior will be observed and tested directly in retail. In addition, a digital plastic app is being developed to inform consumers about the environmental impact of packaging and show alternative purchasing options.
