Although a positive trend with regard to gender equality has become apparent over the last 10 years since the establishment of women's advancement plans for the Medical Faculty of the University of Münster, the current state is far from satisfactory. Significant losses of women's potential continue to be observed in the course of the qualification process (see the evaluation in the current women's advancement plan).

In order to counteract the persistent significant loss of women's potential in the course of the qualification process (doctoral degree – habilitation – appointment), the Medical Faculty has set itself the goal of significantly increasing the proportion of women pursuing habilitation and the proportion of W3 professors in the coming years.

Various funding instruments are available for this purpose.
