Project

It is speculated that aberrant viral RNAs induce cytokine overexpression upon infection with highly pathogenic influenza A viruses. My project aims to investigate specific mutations in viral polymerase that affect activity and fidelity and thus lead to the synthesis of immune-stimulatory aberrant RNAs.

Methods

CRISPR/CAS9 gene editing (KO cell lines), flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, cloning, cell culture,  Western Blot, plaque assay, luciferase based assays, virus rescue, siRNA transfection, SARS-CoV-2, virus particle purification, Lung Explants, BSL3, qPCR, small RNA sequencing
