Project

Immune response and systemic replication during infections with highly pathogenic Influenza A viruses regarding the emergence of cytokine storms and systemic infection in mice. Investigation of three pre-clinically tested MAPK p38 inhibitors as potential treatment for severe influenza as well as for severe COVID-19 in Calu-3 cells, in a human lung model and in mice.

Methods

Cell culture, human lung model, mouse model, infection, influenza viruses, SARS-CoV-2, BSL-2, BSL-3, inhibitor treatment, drug studies, Western blot, quantitative RT-PCR analysis, Plaque assay, transcriptomics, flow cytometry
