The MASDET program can display the following types of image:
Basel-IMAG used in the Biozentrum (University of Basel). One image consists of 2 files: IMAG file contains binary row-data of the image matrix and IHDR file contains text-data of the image header (it includes all recording parameters).
Muenster-TIF used in the Institute of Medical Physics and Biophysics (University of Münster). The idea behind this image format is the following: One TIF file (ver. 6) consists of 2 or more gray-scale intensity 16-bit image matrixes (one matrix for ADF image, a second for objective aperture current). Both information about the image (for opening of the image in other graphics programs) and the header data included in IHDR file of Basel-IMAG format are saved as header of the TIF file.
Possibilities of display:
Display of the image and the header (information about the currently displayed image and recording data acquired together with the image)
Change of contrast and brightness as well as colormap, image filters
Basic measurements (e.g., distance) with option to save the results
Computation and display of the Fast Fourier Transform
Export of the image to another image format; print the image or header
