ZBB Core Dataset

A core data set is required for all task areas, which must be provided both in ongoing routine operations and in the course of data imports or data migrations from legacy systems to CentraXX. The ZBB core data set describes attributes that are absolutely necessary for the purpose of internal data management and for a scientific search platform on persons and samples ("mandatory fields").

The attributes of the ZBB Core Dataset are divided into groups and two main categories in terms of content.

  • Personal (master) data (PersDat).
    • Identifying information (IDat): Unique identification of individuals via ID, surname, first name, date of birth, initial diagnosis if applicable.
    • Donor medical data (MDat): research-relevant and person-related medical annotations beyond the initial/main diagnosis.
    • Consent data (CDat): Type of donor consent and corresponding restrictions, if applicable. Consent data have a special position because they have to be linked to all other consent-relevant attributes to prevent unauthorized use of sample data.
  • Organizational (master) data (OrgDat)
    • Biomaterial Sample Data (PDat): Characterization and unique identification of biomaterials.
    • Biomaterial sample storage data (LDat): internal organization/storage of biomaterials.
    • Study context data (SDat): Unique assignment of each sample to an organizational unit (OU) to control access and user rights.

The ZBB Core Dataset is supplemented with additional attributes as required. You can find the current version in our download area.
