Research assistant / PhD student (gn*) biology, bioinformatics, mathematics or statistics

In an interdisciplinary research project, we want to investigate whether we can predict antibiotic resistance based on known information about the pathogen (e.g. mass spectrometric profiles of bacterial proteins), the patient (e.g. previous illnesses, travel activity) and the environment (e.g. place of residence, season). To do this, you will extract microbiological laboratory data and prepare mass spectrometric measurement profiles for the machine learning (ML) algorithms. Different ML algorithms are developed and validated for each pathogen-antibiotic pair in cooperation with the participating institutes (Institute of Biometry and Clinical Research, Institute of Medical Informatics).

You can apply for this exciting project here.

Student assistants (gn*)

For the microbiology practical course, which takes place in the 4th clinical semester (8th semester) at the Institute of Medical Microbiology, we are regularly looking for student assistants (10 hours per week) at the beginning of the semester. Your tasks include the preparation and follow-up of the course as well as the supervision of the students during the course. Possible working hours would be 4 days a week (Tuesday to Friday) from 9h to 14h.

We are looking forward to:

  • Basic knowledge of microbiology
  • Ideally, you have already completed the course or you are a student of the Faculty of Biology or you are trained as a medical technical assistant.

We offer you:

  • Good initial training
  • Insight into the contents and procedures of the Medical Microbiology course
  • Flexible duty model through coordination of duty times with other student assistants
  • Collaboration in a team of committed MTAs and doctors
  • Good compatibility of part-time job and studies
