The blue-green algae research project is a cross-border cooperation with the Czech Republic, funded as part of the Interreg A program (ETZ 2014-2020). The aim is to jointly research natural products from blue-green algae as a model for scientific cooperation between the two regions.

The main aim of the project is to identify new bioactive compounds from blue-green algae that could have potential applications in the pharmaceutical, food or cosmetic industries. For this purpose, suitable algae strains are cultivated, their metabolic processes are examined and targeted biotechnological processes are developed to extract valuable substances.

The project is intended not only to discover new bioactive substances, but also to serve as a model for future cross-border scientific collaborations. In the long term, it could help promote biotechnology in the region and create new economic opportunities.
