CODEX+ - "COVID-19 Data Exchange Platform"
CODEX+ expands on the CODEX platform from the first funding phase, which has since been integrated into the NUM Routine Data Platform (RDP) infrastructure, by adding technical and organisational aspects. This allows the successful solutions from the various NUM projects to be operated and utilised within a shared infrastructure of the university hospitals.
Project duration: 01.01.2022 to 31.12.2022
Overall coordination: University Medicine Göttingen and Bonn.
Project leader in Münster is Dr. Michael Storck (Institute for Medical Informatics)CollPan - "Health-related collateral effects of the pandemic"
Project duration: 01.09.2023 to 31.08.2024
Overall coordination: University-Medicine Jena and Berlin
Project leader in Münster is: Prof. Alexander Mellmann (Institute of Hygiene)COVIM - "COVIM – COllaboratiVe IMmunity Platform of the NUM"
The COVIM (COllaboratiVe IMmunity Platform of the NUM) aims to establish and further develop an infrastructure for the rapid collection and analysis of complex datasets on immunity against COVID-19 and future pandemic threats. This will provide immediate access to information on the immune status against pathogenic threats and enable the development of new therapeutic and preventive approaches. This allows for rapid responses and evidence-based decisions regarding potential interventions during an outbreak.
Project duration: 01.01.2024 - 30.06.2025
Overall coordination: University Medicine Cologne and Berlin.
Project leader in Münster is: Prof. Luisa Klotz (Department of Neurology)

IMMUNEBRIDGE - "Data on COVID-19 Immunity Status in Germany"
Immune responses to SARS-CoV-2 in high-risk groups in emergency departments and in the general population. This ad-hoc project is an extension project to NAPKON v2.
Project duration: 15.05.2022 - 31.12.2022
Overall coordination: University Medicine Bonn & Göttingen.
Project leader in Münster is: Prof. André Karch (Institute of Epidemiology and Social Medicine)
NAPKON V2 - "National Pandemic Cohort Network V2"
The goal of NAPKON is to establish a long-term research network for clinical studies, promoting nationwide collaboration among physicians and researchers. The current shared goal is to recruit a high-quality cohort of patients with Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) for an in-depth representation of the disease and to analyse the investigation data.
Project duration:01.01.2022 to 30.06.2025
Overall coordination: University Medicine Berlin; SÜP: University Hospital Cologne.
Project leader in Münster is Dr. Phil-Robin Tepasse (Department of Medicine B)

NATON - National Autopsy Network
The goal of NATON is to promote and support autopsy research in a variety of fields and to serve as a platform for pandemic preparedness. Autopsies have long been an important tool for quality assurance in medicine and can improve our understanding of the pathophysiology of infectious diseases, among other things. Particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, it became clear what added value autopsies can provide. For example, autopsy-based research was able to prove that pulmonary (micro-) vascular thromboembolisms, systemic virus spread, and the complex interplay between viruses and the immune system play a crucial role in severe COVID-19 cases and fatal outcomes.
NATON is running as a subproject of the research line since the beginning of the 2nd funding phase as a follow-up project to DEFEAT PANDEMIcs.
Project duration: 01.01.2022 to 30.06.2025 (as of 01.01.2023 as NATON - Infrastructure)
Overall coordination: University Medicine Aachen and Hamburg-Eppendorf.
Project leader in Münster is: Prof. Peter Barth (Gerhard-Domagk-Institute of Pathology)

PREPARED - "PREparedness and PAndemic REsponse in Deutschland"
The goal of PREPARED was to develop a concept for a scientifically founded, cooperative, adaptive, and sustainable infrastructure for pandemic preparedness and management through university medicine. This should ensure a coordinated, rapid, targeted, and evidence-based response to threats to patient care and public safety in current and future pandemic cases, as well as coordinated research on priority questions in current and future pandemic cases. Our vision is a future where university medicine, in cooperation with other clinical and scientific partners, coordinates, efficiently, transparently, evidence-based, and agilely ensures medical care, provides scientifically sound answers to urgent questions, and advises and informs politics and the population in a suitable manner.
Project duration: 01.09.2022 to 31.08.2023

UTN "University Telemedicine Network "
The goal of the project is to overcome the heterogeneity of the current telemedical infrastructure of German university hospitals and to create a standardised, telemedical collection of research data on COVID-19, with a focus on semantic and syntactic interoperability. Furthermore, an evidence-based guideline for telemedical care is to be developed.
