To foster translational research on reproduction and infertility, we have established the BMBF-funded Junior Scientist Research Centre ReproTrack.MS in 2023. ReproTrack.MS brings the concept of ‘From Bench to Bedside and Back’ to life, providing a supportive environment for Medical and Clinician Scientists while helping to shape and sustain their academic careers.
Research Programme
The ReproTrack.MS research programme builds on existing expertise to investigate the complex factors underlying male infertility and related conditions.
The programme spans a comprehensive spectrum from genetic causes of infertility and comorbidities (Research Area A), testis development and fertility preservation (Research Area B), over sperm dysfunction and ciliopathies (Research Area C), to fertilisation and implantation (Research Area D).
Fifteen principal investigators (PIs) were selected through an open call and a rigorous process, which assessed their
- Alignment with ReproTrack.MS’ research focus,
- Experience in training Medical and Clinician Scientists within translational settings,
- Expertise in addressing molecular mechanistic questions, and
- Academic excellence and leadership credentials.
The ten ReproTrack.MS fellows were recruited through a hybrid selection symposium, supported by an internationally composed Advisory Board. Together with their PIs, these fellows form research groups at the University of Münster and its University Hospital, working to elucidate the causes of male infertility and advance its diagnosis and treatment.
