13. Ion channels of immune cells and their regulation by the micro- environment in PDAC and its interface with normal tissue

The aim of the research project is to understand the operation of the ion channels and the ion channel-dependent cellular functions of immune cells in the special microenvironment provided in PDAC and the cancer-healthy tissue interface. This requires the isolation of Tumour Infiltrating Lymphocytes, macrophages and myeloid suppressor cells, the characterization of the ion channel expression in these cells using patch-clamp and determine if a specific ion channel inhibitor or activator may reduce the activity of the immune cells that contribute to the immunosuppressive environment in PDAC.
