I studied Molecular and Developmental Biology at Justus Liebig University Giessen, where I developed a strong interest in cardiovascular biology, gene regulation and muscle development. During my master’s studies, I joined the Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research in Bad Nauheim, where I investigated the function of the miR-1/206/133 microRNA family in heart and skeletal muscle biology.
I subsequently continued at the Max Planck Institute for my doctoral and postdoctoral training in the Department of Cardiac Development and Remodelling under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Dr. Thomas Braun and Prof. Dr. Thomas Böttger. My research focused on long non-coding RNAs regulating cardiac excitation-contraction coupling and metabolism, as well as chromatin remodelling mechanisms mediated by the INO80 complex. These projects were part of the Collaborative Research Center TRR 267 and the Excellence Cluster Cardio-Pulmonary Institute (CPI).
In early 2026, I joined the group of Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Linke as a postdoctoral researcher. My current research focuses on the role and regulation of titin during cardiac development and in adult cardiomyocytes, with a particular interest in non-coding RNAs and transcriptional mechanisms contributing to muscle function, mechanosensing and cardiovascular disease.
