• Hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS)
• Diarrhea and one of the following circumstances:
  • due to diarrhea hospitalized children younger than 7 years
  • bloody diarrhea
  • hemorrhagic colitis
  • necrotising enterocolitis
• Diarrhea during the last week and one of the following conditions:
  • hemolytic anemia
  • acute renal failure
  • Immunocompromising diseases or therapies
• Cluster of gastro-enteritis (two or more infections with an epidemiological link) in e.g.:
  • kindergarten
  • households
  • schools
  • hospitals
• Contact persons of EHEC infections (e.g. within a family)
