Best Practices in Scientific Research & Writing Scientific Papers
The regulations of the Medical Faculty for doctoral studies require that each doctoral student must provide proof of successful participation in courses on the principles of good scientific practice and writing scientific papers in order to be admitted to the doctoral degree program. These courses are offered in two parts as separate events. The course "Good Scientific Practice - A Guide" covers approximately 5 hours of instruction and the course "Dealing with Sources" covers approximately 2 hours of instruction. Both parts take place exclusively in German, and participation is only possible with sufficient German language skills. An equivalent English-language course is offered through the Graduate Center of the University of Münster. The course is designed for participants who are at the beginning of their research for their dissertation.
The course "Good Scientific Practice - A Guide (Part 1)" takes place from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM, either as a presence event or as an online event. The seminar room or the dial-in data for the Zoom video conference will be sent to you by email one week before the event begins. If the minimum number of participants of 5 people is not reached before the event, the event must be cancelled, and the registered participants will be notified by email.
The course "Good Scientific Practice - Dealing with Sources" by Dr. Beese and PD Dr. Scherzer takes place in the conference room of the Medical Library Münster or in the lecture hall building. The dial-in data for the Zoom video conference will be sent to you by email approximately one week before the event begins.
After completing both parts, you will receive a certificate from SerWiS for the doctoral studies office. The sequence - first Part 1, then Part 2 - is recommended, but not mandatory.
