A vibrant community
Impressions from the 3rd Medical & Clinician Scientist Forum, Münster
16 January 2026
Approximately 60 junior researchers and mentors from the natural sciences and medicine came together at this year’s career forum organised by our university’s clinician scientist programme ‘CareerS’ and the medical scientist programme ‘InFlame’. The two days were marked by lively scientific exchange and valuable insight into personal career development. The event took place on 12 and 13 January 2026, at our University Hospital’s Park Academy.

Fast & curious: Speed networking actively brought junior and senior scientists into conversation with each other.
The ten-minute sessions focused on research, personal experiences and advice about one’s career.
Once again, participants met familiar and new faces and enthusiastically took advantage of this year’s speed networking sessions.
After three years of funding, the first fellows to complete their CareerS Boost projects received their certificates from Dean Professor Frank Ulrich Müller (right). Picture: Florian Kochinke
Münster-based physician and theatre director Tuğsal Moğul provided fascinating insight into how he artistically translates authentic stories and intensively investigated topics from everyday life in medicine into theatre.
Junior researchers and experienced colleagues discussed aspects of applying for research funding and how to deal with the rejections that are part of everyday life in science.
In addition, participants practiced consciously recognising the unconscious biases that significantly influence decisions – even in academic contexts.
