The Institute of Biostatistics and Clinical Research (Institut für Biometrie und Klinische Forschung, IBKF) is one of the leading departments in Germany for research in clinical trials, located at the faculty for medicine of the University of Münster.

It emerged from the former Institute of Medical Informatics and Biomathematics in 2010 and since then is headed by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. et med. habil. Andreas Faldum. Presently the IBKF employs 14 scientific and non-scientific staff members.

The IBKF performs methodological research in biometrics and statistics, as for example in flexible adaptive statistical designs, Bayesian statistics, and systems biology in medicine.

Coworkers at the IBKF are involved in the biostatistical planning and analysis of several international and national multicenter clinical trials and support several small to medium size biomedical research projects.

From 2011 to 2015 the IBKF obtained approximately 1.500.000€ research funds from external partners (foundations, DFG, BMBF) and continuously publishes statistical as well as clinical peer-reviewed articles in close collaboration with clinical researchers.

Prof. Faldum additionally acts as chairman of the Center for Clinical Trials Münster (Zentrum für Klinische Studien, ZKS).
