Call for IZKF Technology Grants

Think BIC!
As part of its technology funding programme, the IZKF is awarding temporary technology grants for the years 2026 and 2027 for analyses to be carried out in the new IZKF Core Unit Biology in Context (BIC).
BIC centralizes expertise in spatial and single-cell multi-omics to provide these cutting-edge tools to the local life sciences community in an internationally competitive fashion. BIC offers state of the art technology including single-cell/single-nuclei multi-omics, spatial transcriptomics (Visium, Xenium), and spatial proteomics (MACSima, VS200 slide scanner).
This call awards Technology Grants up to 10.000 EUR to advance projects with a spatial biology question that can be addressed by use of technologies offered by BIC. The grant application must include a description of the significance of the planned research and is assessed by the IZKF in accordance with the applicable quality criteria prior to funding.
For scientists already funded by the IZKF, a new research question is mandatory for a Technology Grant. An increase in funding for an ongoing IZKF project is not permitted.
Submitted grant applications will be evaluated for feasibility by the BIC Board (Kornelius Kerl, Gerd Meyer zu Hörste, Oliver Soehnlein) and forwarded to the IZKF Executive Board. In a short procedure, the applications are reviewed to assess their scientific soundness.
