Welcome to the ZMBE Symposium May 11th - 12th 2023

On May11th-12th 2023, we will hold a scientific symposium to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Center for Molecular Biology of Inflammation, the ZMBE (Zentrum für Molekularbiologie der Entzündung). In 25 talks by internationally renowned scientists this meeting will showcase the research themes actively investigated at the ZMBE.

The ZMBE  is an interdisciplinary research center at the University of Münster that is dedicated to the investigation of fundamental mechanisms underlying inflammatory and infectious processes. The research and teaching activities at the ZMBE connect the faculties of Medicine, Biology, Chemistry and Pharmacy of the University of Münster, and as such the center serves as a core for past and current collaborative research initiatives.

Research at the ZMBE ranges from the basic principles of cell damage repair, membrane communication, cell migration and differentiation to studying the systemic properties of inflammatory responses, cell-pathogen interactions, and immune cell activation.
The ZMBE institutes employ a wide range of model organisms including viruses, bacteria, yeast, Drosophila, zebrafish, and mouse. Human materials for testing medically-relevant translational concepts include clinical biosamples, 2D/3D culture systems, organoids and ex vivo organ models. Clinical applications build on numerous established collaborations with the University hospital Münster.
