The introductory R programming course taught by Dr. Marius Welzel at the Institute of Medical Informatics received an overwhelmingly positive response during the summer semester. The extracurricular course was designed primarily for medical students and students from related disciplines with no prior programming experience.

R is one of the world's leading programming languages for statistical analysis, data visualization, and the anlalysis of medical research data. For medical students, these skills are particularly valuable, as many doctoral thesis, clinical studies, and research initiatives rely heavily on statistical analyses.

Through hands-on practical sessions, participants learned the fundamentals of the R programming language and took their first steps in data analysis and visualization. By the end of the course, they were able to write their own scripts, analyze datasets, and create meaningful graphical visualizations.

The high level of demand and the excellent feedback clearly demonstrated the strong interest in programming and data analysis skills within the medical field. As a result, Dr. Marius Welzel will offer the course again in the upcomig winter semester.
