The IMI team contributed several presentations at the German Conference on Bioinformatics (GCB), which took place from September 22–24, 2025, at the University of Düsseldorf. More than 250 experts from research, development, and practice exchanged insights on the latest developments in bioinformatics.

Sandra Clemens, in her talk “Harnessing Generative AI for Predicting and Optimizing Antimicrobial Peptides Against Drug-Resistant Infections”, demonstrated how generative AI can predict and optimize antimicrobial peptides to combat resistant infections. The work is based on the COMPASS database (Collection of AntiMicrobial Peptide dAta baSeS), the world’s largest repository of antimicrobial peptides.

In addition, there were the following exciting poster contributions:

Sophie Wind: “Optimization of 4C-seq Peak Calling Algorithms Through Ensemble-Based Methods”

Marius Welzel und Hannah Franziska Löchel: „DNA Rosetta Stone“

Leon Fehse: „AMR Gutlas: Anti-Microbial Resistome Atlas for Human Gut Microbiome Data“

Michael Fujarski: „Automated Mouse Behavior Analysis for Welfare Assessment Using Multimodal AI and Keypoint Tracking”

Adèle Ribeiro: „AnchorFCI: Integrating Genetic Anchors into Causal Discovery for Enhanced Robustness and Inferential Power“
