A cause for celebration at the Institute of Medical Informatics: The first-author paper of our colleague, Sophie Wind, has been successfully accepted for publication. This marks a significant milestone on her path toward a publication-based PhD in the Medical Sciences doctoral program (Dr. rer. medic.).

In her scientific research, Sophie examines the spatial organization of DNA within the cell nucleus and its significance for gene regulation. The spatial structure of DNA influences the interaction between genes and regulatory elements; alterations in this structure can be linked to the development of severe diseases, including cancer. As part of her work, Sophie and her team developed the "fourSynergy" framework to improve the analysis of 4C-seq data.

The acceptance of this first-author paper is a crucial step toward the successful completion of her doctorate. A detailed presentation of the research and the paper will follow once it has been published.

We could not let this special achievement go unnoticed: the team gathered in the institute's common room to toast to the successful acceptance of the paper.

Congratulations, Sophie, and we wish you continued success on your journey toward your PhD!
