Role of Syndecan-4 in the Breast Cancer Tumor Micro Environment (IMF)
Dr. Jessica Oyie Sousa Onyeisi
Syndecan-4 (SDC4), a transmembrane heparan sulfate proteoglycan, regulates extracellular matrix interactions, growth factor signaling, and cytoskeletal dynamics. Alterations in SDC4 expression and function have been implicated in triple-negative breast cancer progression, including cell migration, invasion, and therapy response.
The aim of this project is to investigate the role of SDC4 in breast cancer progression by analyzing the communication between neoplastic cells with different levels of aggressiveness and endothelial cells within the tumor microenvironment.
This project is currently funded by the Innovative Medical Research (IMF) of the Medical Faculty of Münster.
