Welcome to the Erpenbeck Lab!
The Erpenbeck Lab investigates the role of the innate immune system—particularly neutrophils—in the pathogenesis of a variety of chronic and inflammatory diseases. Located within the Department of Dermatology at the University Hospital of Münster (UKM), our research focuses on chronic skin diseases such as psoriasis, urticaria, and systemic lupus erythematosus. Our research interests range from basic immunological research at the single-cell level to clinical trials. Another focus is on the biophysical aspects of immune cells, especially neutrophils. We aim to understand how these cells communicate with each other to regulate complex cellular behavior. To address these questions, we develop and utilize novel imaging methods, for example, to detect small molecules in real time or to achieve higher resolution of cellular structures.
