Arbeitsgruppe Meyer zu Hörste

Das Labor von Prof. Dr. Gerd Meyer zu Hörste (MzH-Labor)  untersucht die Interaktion zwischen Nervensystem und Immunsystem. Wir verwenden eine breite Palette von experimentellen Techniken, um Krankheitsmechanismen bei neuro-immunologischen Erkrankungen zu verstehen. Die Ziele unserer Forschung sind:

  1. Verbessertes Verständnis der Wechselwirkung zwischen T-Helferzellen und Parenchymzellen des Nervensystems.
  2. Charakterisierung der Interaktion zwischen follikulären T-Helferzellen mit B-Zellen in Autoimmun-Erkrankungen des Nervensystems.
  3. Untersuchung wie die Umgebung im zentralen Nervensystem den Phänotyp und die Funktion von Immunzellen prägt.


Von besonderem Interesse sind für uns die Multiple Sklerose, entzündliche Myopathien und entzündliche Neuropathien und die entsprechenden Tiermodelle der Erkrankungen. Darüber hinaus entwickeln wir aktiv neue Techniken und adaptieren sie an neuroimmunologische Fragestellungen. Zu diesen neuen Techniken gehören genomweite Genexpressionsmessung auf Einzelzell-Ebene (single cell RNA-sequencing) und Proteomics.
