Research

In our research we investigate the connection between brain processes or structure and psychological functions. We mainly use functional or structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and electrophysiological methods (e.g. EEG) in healthy individuals and various patient groups.

Research topics

  • Neuronal mechanisms of conscious and unconscious information processing
  • Attention-dependent modulation of the processing of emotional and neutral stimuli
  • Threat processing: fear, anxiety, anxiety disorders
  • Processing of performance and social feedback
  • Learning and neural plasticity
  • Neuronal basis of expectation, anticipation and adaptation processes for emotional and non-emotional stimuli
  • Cognitive and emotional alterations after brain damage
  • Prediction and effects of successful psychotherapeutic or neuropsychological interventions
