STUDYING MEDICINE IN MÜNSTER

Knowledge in medicine is growing every day. This makes it all the more important not only to acquire factual knowledge during your studies, but also to develop strategies for dealing with the increasing amount of information and for applying new findings in practice. Good doctors also need strong communication and social skills in order to make well-founded diagnoses and to work with patients to find the best treatment path. The Medical Faculty of the University of Münster aims to impart all of this to its students. It also offers opportunities to gain research skills during your studies. Through regular evaluations, informal dialogues, and an ideas competition, students can contribute their experiences to the ongoing development of the medical degree program.

The path to medical studies

Münster is one of the few places in Germany where students can begin their studies in medicine or dentistry in the summer semester. Acceptance into either of these university course studies requires more than excellent “Abitur” (high school graduation) marks: In the Münster aptidude test, basic medical and scientific understanding is tested. Student candidates also complete stations with short interaction scenarios, which are based primarily on non-cognitive abilities.

The teaching hospital

In addition to traditional lectures and seminars as well as e-learning elements, practical training is an integral part of medical studies: in the university outpatient clinic, at the patient's bedside, and in Europe’s first “Studienhospital” (teaching hospital). There, medical students complete numerous valuable training sessions with simulation patients.
