Our research focuses on current aspects of Molecular Neurobiology and Neuroanatomy. We are interested in the mechanisms of how nerve cells communicate with each other, a fundamental process that occurs mostly at chemical synapses.

In particular, we work on the regulation of neurotransmission by synaptic cell-adhesion molecules and the molecular and cellular determinants of the formation and plasticity of synapses. These are fundamental processes to understand the basics of sensations, cognition and learning as well as to investigate their underlying causes of debilitating brain disorders.
